WRC Action

Nissan contested several rallies in the 1991 & 1992 WRC - but the instant overwhelming success they had hoped for (!) was not forthcoming and it looked like they would have to spend a few years developing (like everyone else) - tragically they shut down NME and pulled out of rallying to focus their cash on LeMans before the true potential of the GTI-R was ever unlocked... although Gregoire de Mevius (Belgium) showed it was a potent tarmac machine in production form, winning the 1992 FIA Group-N Championship.
